Comparison between Kayman Beauty CoalFace Soap & CoalFace Cleanser.

WHAT ARE THEY?

The CoalFace Soap is a cleanser in solid bar form. It is black in colour due to charcoal powder, one of its main ingredients, with tiny specks of glitter for aesthetic purposes. It also contains linalool, a naturally derived ingredient favoured for its pleasant scent, which gives the CoalFace Soap a subtle, yummy smell. On the other hand, the CoalFace Cleanser is a cleanser in liquid form, with a gel-like consistency. Like its big sister, it is also black in colour with tiny golden specks.

WHY CHARCOAL & HONEY?

Selecting the star ingredients for the Soap and Cleanser was quite a challenge for the founders, who wanted something unique yet effective. But after thorough research, they finally settled on charcoal and honey.

Activated charcoal is carbon soot which has undergone a process that gives it a sponge-like, porous structure. This porous structure means that it has a large surface area which can help it grab onto things. Simply put, the presence of charcoal in Kayman Beauty cleansers increases the efficacy of removing excess sebum and dirt from pores, like a clay mask. In other words, it acts like an “oil magnet.”

Honey, on the other hand, is hailed as one of the miraculous skin-healing ingredients. Kayman Beauty CoalFace Soap and CoalFace Cleanser are formulated with high-grade, pure honey, to ensure the best of quality.  Honey is also known for its anti-bacterial properties, which can help to reduce acne. It is also beneficial to brighten the skin, reduce hyperpigmentation and nourish the skin, as well as reduce fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to its potent antioxidants.

Honey is just ridiculously amazing – you can never go wrong with it!

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Both the CoalFace Soap and CoalFace Cleanser serve the same function, which is to cleanse the skin. They are both second cleansers, meaning you should use a makeup remover/pre-cleansing product before using any of these two. Our cleansing products are not able to provide effective makeup removal; thus, pre-cleansing is required.

CoalFace Soap is generally more effective for sebum control and deep pore cleansing, which means that those with oily, acne-prone skin are more likely to benefit from the effects of the Soap. CoalFace Soap is formulated using a glycerine base with minimal ingredients and can easily “melt” if not handled properly. To maintain the CoalFace Soap, it is best to place it in a dry and clean soap dish to avoid constant contact with water and prevent melting. The soap dish should be cleaned regularly to avoid bacterial contamination. It is also advisable to cut the Soap into smaller pieces and use one part at a time.

CoalFace Cleanser, on the other hand, is formulated to be the more hydrating sister to the Soap. This mild, sulphate-free cleanser contains aloe vera and green tea extracts for an extra soothing effect. CoalFace Cleanser does not contain any fragrance in any form, making it a desirable option for all skin types, especially those with dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin. As CoalFace Cleanser comes in its own pump bottle, it is easier to store – just put it in a cool, dry place and everything’s good!
